Doodle 2

Standard
yet another pencil on printer paper!

Just playing around with celtic knot-style art

I love celtic knots! They’re so engaging! I love the dimension and endlessness. So I tried playing around with one here. It’s yet another pencil-on-printer-paper doodle, done in 2011.

I’ve looked into the history behind it. Celtic knots have been used in lots of cultural artwork besides Coptic/Celtic artwork. They can even be seen in Islamic art (which has always had a penchant for geometrical shapes and styles), among others. It’s no surprise why considering how whenever I look at one, my eyes just keep following the pattern round and around again. They’re simply beautiful and definitely fun to make!

So far this is the only one I’ve tried to make from my own imagination, but it certainly won’t be my last.
